As often is the case with SL fashion, sometimes RL issues interfere.

I am on hiatus from designing for an indefinite amount of time to come. Amaretto will remain open, but there may not be any new releases for some time. I apologize if this creates an inconvenience to any of the fabulous SL fashionistas who are interested in Amaretto. I hope that you all will keep Amaretto in the back of your minds, for the day when I am able to pick up and continue!

As I glance at the fashion feed today, I would like to join in in offering my condolences to the friends and business associates of Ginny Talamasca. My heart goes out to you. I never got to know Ginny personally, but it would have been an honor if I had. If the designs of LC/DHC are any indication, Ginny was an amazing person. The SL fashion community has lost a very talented designer.

Working to complete several new formals/not-really-casuals, for Oct 5 Divine Intervention. Here is just one of those formals/not-really-casuals...

Chariot has a strapless or strapped option bustier with a netted tutu-style skirt which you can wear long or short. It is mod / copy / no xfer.

EDIT This dress *is* avaliable now. ;p

Also, for laughs, another preview of the Sour line, which of course is taking longer than I originally anticipated - due to my doofishness.

In case you were wondering, this is why I haven't put out any new releases this week. I *am* working. I intend to release this mix-n-match line of street/punk/gawthwear in mid-to-late October, possibly early November. Its happening organically as most of my projects do, so I can't tell you how many pieces, or give the specifics. I am hoping to include some menswear or unisexwear in the line.

Also, I look forward to participating in the Divine Intervention show, Oct 5 @ 5-8PM SLT. Other designers in the lineup include: Tuli Asturias, Betty Barracuda, Betty Doyle, Shai Delacroix, Kara Eagle, and Haedon Quine. How amazing is that? I am so flattered to be among such accomplished and talented designers.

I've also opened a new location of the store, or... er, rather, will have opened it after this afternoon at some point! So, I will give details on that ASAP.

Look for a group freebie from the Sour line to come your way!

It has taken me ages to blog this, and I apologize, but:
I just wanted to plea to my readers and group members to hang in there with me over the next couple of weeks. In addition to a RL job which takes up much of my time - I am in the last stages of planning my RL wedding which will be happening during the month of August.

It is a lot to juggle, and new releases will be scarce through this month.

But stay tuned as I am planning to announce a fun contest sometime in the next several weeks.

The Calypso Series

Hello all! I'm happy to announce a new eye collection (finally!) called The Calypso Series. This eye collection feature 6 hues, each with the reflection of an island sunset hinted in the iris. Each shade sells for L$100 and includes both large and small iris sizes.

An example of the six shades. These eyes are hand-painted and were a labor of love. I may release more colors, I'm open to suggestions. As of right now, I'm thinking I may make these limited edition, but I haven't decided. So, if you're interested, don't wait to get yours!

In case you're worried the eyes may look odd when worn... this pic demonstrates how you can hardly tell the difference from a fair distance. (Daquiri, Small Iris) Trust me, you're going to look positively enchanting, no matter which shade you choose.

New Release: Ava

Definitely not like my usual stuff - but, I don't know. Something possessed me to do this dress. So, it may be kinda gawthy - but, it's important to remain stylish even *after* you've been bitten by a vampire.

Ava is a shirt, g pant, shirt and jacket. The jacket has prim sleeve attachments, to give you a little flair in the sleeves. Like almost every outfit I sell, Ava is L$200.

Also, I'd like to share a tip with all of you, which I absolutely *love*. I picked up an outfit from Dakota Buck at Savvy?, and she included a notecard with this majorly fabulous tip:

"...as I know a lot of people dislike the system (non-prim) skirts... In order to get the most out of your skirt you need to have a separate "skirt shape". Make a copy of your current shape, [name the copy something like, "Shape (System Skirt Version)" and wear it] so you know what it is and then edit your appearance. It's best to be wearing the skirt when you do this. Got to Shape>Legs and move the sliders on "Hip Width" and "Butt Size" towards the left until you achieve a size closer to what you should look like without the skirt."

Such an excellent idea!
I have a system skirt shape now.

East meets West...

At this time, I'm happy to announce that the East meets West fashion show will be taking place on June 17, 2007 @ 12:00PM-2:00PM SLT (Second Life Time, or Pacific Standard Time). The first hour will feature the designs of Cherry Tokyos Kimonos, and the second hour will feature my work. Cherry & I have arranged for DJ Nexeus Fatale to provide music and voice for the shows, so come with your audio enabled!

I am hoping to hire two more female models for the show, so if you are interested, please drop a notecard to me in-world (Lux Yao) that includes at least 6 snapshots. I am interested in your shape and skin. I will be providing L$ for the model to purchase hair, and am looking for a skin designer interested in providing skin my portion of the show, as Tete a Pied is providing geisha skins for Cherry Tokyo.

In other news, I will be on vacation, and away from SL, May 26-30. If you have any customer service issues, please submit a notecard to me with 'Amaretto' in the file name, otherwise I may not be able to address it. Please DO NOT IM me with customer service issues between May 26-30, because I will already be swamped with IMs and you may get lost in the shuffle. I am dedicated to making customers happy, to the best of my ability.

Celebrity Trollop Interview and a Rain Dance.

Last week, when I received an IM from Second Style Fashionista's Celebrity Trollop, well... I can't even begin to say how thrilled I was. Then I read it. Then I peed my virtual flexiprims! She said she felt I had a lot of talent and potential, and wanted to interview me about my designs. We met on Sunday evening down at the store, and I interviewed for this post. We also gabbed about SL fashion in general for quite some time.

This is the new dress Rain Dance. I know what you're thinking "Omg, Lux! You used a color! Very good." Anyhow, it's top, g-pant, and flexi skirt with a pretty periwinkle pattern. It can be yours for L$200 and a trip to Barcelona del Oeste!

Tonight Cherry Tokyo and I have a meeting about our fashion show. More details when I have 'em!

To Mesh, or not to Mesh?

I'm particularly proud of this weekend release, Hear Me Rawr! This snakeskin-print dress is top, glitch pant, (or as I call them "G Pant", because I'm lazy) and system skirt for L$180. The matching bangles are also available in the accessories section of the store for L$75! Look for a matching handbag in the future. I plan to release a line of handbags for my upcoming fashion show.

I also wanted to take a moment to talk about system skirts on SL. I know some SL fashion critics out there are completely anti-mesh skirts in SL (*see Linden Lifestyles Top Ten Things That Must Die #8) Not that I disagree with the fabulous S & S, they're completely right. However, Jaydei Benmergui makes a nice arguement for them in her Fashionista Post over at Second Style. Regardless of the love/hate relationship I have with system skirts, I'm using them. Sometimes a flexi skirt just ain't right.

I'm horrible at my own, personal blog, so I can only imagine how badly this one will suffer. However, I press on to bring you news and goodies!

I have several things in the works Amaretto, the most exciting of which is that I'm planning a fashion show with my good friend Cherry Tokyo, slated to take place at some point in June. The details are scarce at this point, but I will know more this coming Tuesday. I will say that Tete a Pied has agreed to make a generous contribution to the show. More on that later. Now for the goods!

I'm happy today to be making the first post in this official blog for the SL boutique Amaretto. I'd like acknowledge and thank Cherry Tokyo, my friend and SL business confidant, I'd like to thank Tanya Book for the post about my freebies in SL Fashion Notes. Also, all my friends and group members!
